Abstract
AbstractPityophthorus orarius Bright is a small beetle which mines and kills shoots of Douglas-fir. The adult tunnels into the shoot in early summer and lays its eggs. Tunnelling of the larvae causes twig mortality indicated by characteristic "flagging".
