Abstract
AbstractFive new species ofMegapenthesare described:apacheorumfrom Arizona and New Mexico;texanusfrom Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona;fuscusfrom Arizona;antennatusfrom Arizona and Durango (Mexico); andelongatusfrom Arizona and New Mexico. Four species are redescribed:longicornisSchaeffer,variolatusVan Dyke,megalopsVan Dyke, andobtususVan Dyke. The male genitalia of these species are illustrated, and a key to the 29 nearctic species is included. The position ofaterrimusMotschulsky is discussed,DolopiosomusMotschulsky is considered as anomen oblitumunderMegapenthes, andcaprella californicusBrown is synonymized undercaprellaLeConte.
