Abstract
Fluorescent europium ion doped lanthanum fluoride (LaF3:Eu3+) nanoparticles were synthesized using
various methods which includes hydrothermal, co-precipitation and sonochemical method. A series
of experiments were performed to obtain variations in the morphology, structure and optical behaviour
of fabricated products. The optical and structural properties of the fabricated nanoparticles (NPs) were
characterized through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), energy
dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometry, and particle
size by dynamic light scattering (DLS). In LaF3 nanoparticles, the existence of europium as dopant
ions was confirmed through energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The optical properties of
the synthesized nanoparticles were investigated by conducting photoluminescence (PL) studies.
