Abstract

The paper presents the results of a taxonomic revision of the species composition of cyanobacteria in mangrove environments, representing the orders Coleofasciculales, Oscillatoriales, Pleurocapsales, Pseudanabaenales and Spirulinales. The authors consulted 64 research publications including national and international journals and books published from 1889 to 2020. A verified list of mangrove-associated cyanobacteria includes 196 species from 48 genera. The dominant order was Oscillatoriales (137 taxa), followed by Pleurocapsales (25 taxa), Pseudanabaenales (18 taxa), Spirulinales (7 taxa), Coleofasciculales (5 taxa) and Geitlerinematales (4 taxa). The dominant family was Oscillatoriaceae with 79 species followed by Microcoleaceae with 39 species, Pseudanabaenaceae with 18 species, Gomontielleaceae with 8 species, Dermocarpellaceae, Hyellaceae, Xenococcaceae and Spirulinaceae with 7 species each, Geitlerinemataceae, Wilmottiaceae and Hydrococcaceae with 4 species each, Borziaceae with 2 species and Coleofasciculaceae with 1 species.
