Abstract
There is a growing number of students enrolling in community colleges in the United States. Many of these students are looking to transfer credits earned from the community college to four-year institutions, while others are simply looking to enter into the skilled workforce. With the increase in general enrollment and the demand for more globalized citizenry, the result has been an increase in the number of students in foreign-language classes. There has been limited research on the increasing role that community colleges are taking in regards to foreign-language teaching in the community college. This paper reviews existing research in the role of community colleges in foreign-language teaching.
