Abstract
Background A 46-year-old woman presented to a physical therapy clinic with an occult femoral hernia masquerading as a musculoskeletal disorder of the hip. Femoral hernias are associated with a substantially high risk of fatal complications and poor outcomes. Their management requires urgent operative intervention. Case Presentation Clinical examination revealed atypical findings, warranting further diagnostic imaging. An urgent pelvic computed tomography scan identified a right femoral hernia. Outcome and Follow-Up The patient was expedited to secondary care and received laparoscopic surgery within the week. Femoral hernias can present to physical therapists disguised as musculoskeletal in origin. Discussion This case report highlights the critical importance of considering femoral hernias as a differential diagnosis in those presenting with groin pain.
