Abstract
Inflammatory pseudotumor of the upper airway is an uncommon lesion that clinically mimics a neoplastic process. It has no identifiable cause and is not associated with systemic disease. It is thought to be a form of idiopathic pseudotumor and has been reported most often to occur in the lungs, airways, and orbit. 1 Its occurrence in the maxillary sinus is rare. 2,3 We document a case of a 64-year-old woman with a maxillary sinus inflammatory pseudotumor that simulated an aggressive neoplasm on CT scan. The difficulties in establishing this clinicopathologic diagnosis are discussed.
