Abstract

The aim of the study presented in the article was to diagnose the level of burnout of professional educators and to determine the severity of this syndrome according to sociodemographic factors such as gender, age, the working environment (type of facility) and the length of service (length of employment). A study using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), was carried out in a group of 281 teachers and educators working in public schools and correctional establishments. Studies have revealed that the workplace significantly differentiates the intensity of burnout among educators – the rehabilitation educators rate has proved to be significantly lower burnout than the rate of public school teachers. It has also been revealed that age and length of work are not significant factors differentiating the level of burnout of the studied pedagogues, and that the aggravation of depersonalization is significantly higher in men than in women.
