Abstract
Electrochemical technologies have received increasing attention for development of biological assays. Electrochemical methods have the potential to allow for very low limits of detection if all of the analyte can be delivered efficiently to the electrode surface. In addition, the electroactivity of the nucleobases and sugars may provide a means by which the attachment of fluorescent and radioactive labels to target nucleic acids can be avoided.
