Abstract
Previously, our group reported on the preparation and electrochemical properties of a low surface area conductive diamond powder (1). We now demonstrate successful preparation of higher surface area conductive diamond powders ranging from 8 to 52 m2/g. Electrical resistance measurements show these boron-doped diamond powders are nearly as conductive as Vulcan powder. The cost of diamond powder is compared with the cost of other carbon materials used in the PEMFC. Structural and morphological characteristics of the diamond powders are investigated using Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy.
