Abstract
From ancient time, agriculture is the main occupation of human being. Generally, farmers lack scientific knowledge about crop diseases and how to treat them. Farmers will not show interest to search any kind of crop information in any website or will not visit government authorized agro information center for their doubts in agriculture. They also have the difficulty in understanding the language and even to type it. Due to all these problems faced by farmers, any application based on voice interaction gained more importance now days. Many government and private mobile applications were introduced for the farmers to get answers to their doubts from experts through voice-based interaction. Natural language processing evolved as a result of people's need and desire to communicate with technology. As extensive progress is being made in this area, most portable and digital devices, such as keyboards etc., are expected to be replaced by voice interaction technologies. In this way, voice-based interaction applications will be a great benefit to the uneducated farmers in our country. This paper explores the applications of speech recognition in agriculture sector.
