Abstract
This investigation presents the electrochemical characterization of galvanized steel reinforcements in alkaline solutions simulating concrete-pore environment where corrosion inhibitors were used. Half-cell potentials and linear polarization resistance were performed to determine if the used inhibitor decreases the corrosion activity of the galvanized coating when high pH solutions are present. Results show remarkable decreases in passivation times between the samples with inhibitor vs. without inhibitor.
