Abstract
The anodic monomer 1,3,5-tris(2-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)methyl)benzene, CzE3B, was successfully synthesized by the nucleophilic substitution reaction of 2-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)ethanol with 1,3,5-tris(bromomethyl)benzene, and electropolymerized on the indium tin oxide coated glass. The poly-CzE3B coating functioned as an anodic coloring counter electrode in the electrochromic window (ECW) based on the cathodic coloring working electrode, PProDOT-Me2 coating. It intensified coloration of the ECW throughout the visible region. Hence, the ECW exhibited high optical contrasts, 62 % with Tmin= 0.5% at 585 nm and 57 % with Tmin = 1.3 % at 628 nm, with excellent reversibility and stability.
