Abstract
Results of a comparative in vitro study of the corrosion behavior of selected non-precious metal alloys used in dentistry in the presence of substances present in foodstuffs and materials applied in dentistry yield breakthrough potentials used as indicators of relative corrosion stability. Data are only slightly worse than those previously obtained with palladium-based alloys, earlier poor data of nickel-based alloys were not observed. The influence of additives can be rationalized based on generally known accelerating or inhibiting effects of electrolyte solution constituents.
