GRAVITY-DRIVEN CONVECTIVE FLOW OF MAGNETITE-WATER NANOFLUID AND RADIATIVE HEAT TRANSFER PAST AN OSCILLATING VERTICAL PLATE IN THE PRESENCE OF MAGNETIC FIELD

Abstract

This study investigates heat transfer in magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) free convection flow of ferrofluid along an oscillating vertical plate. Water with nanoparticles of magnetite (Fe3O4) is selected as a conventional base fluid. In addition, non-magnetic aluminum oxide (Al2O3) nanoparticles are also used. Comparison between magnetic (Fe3O4) and non-magnetic (Al2O3) nanoparticles is also conducted. The problem was modelled in terms of partial differential equations with the initial and boundary conditions. Analytical solutions are obtained for velocity and temperature by using Laplace transform technique. The numerical results for velocity and temperature are obtained and plotted graphically. Also numerical values of skin friction and Nusselt number are presented in tables and discussed.
