Abstract
While serving as a journal, a blog is, generally, a form of social media that can be accessed by anyone, online (Miller and Pole 2010). Blogs authored by healthcare professionals are increasingly prevalent (Lagu et al 2008). This opinion piece draws on the author's experience in exploring how blogging can develop reflective skills and the interactive forum that a blog can enable. It also raises the inherent risks of blogging, and suggests that, in order for occupational therapists to make use of this opportunity for continuing professional development, specific guidance about the use of social media needs to be created.
