Abstract
This paper sketches my personal odyssey from artist to occupational therapist. I call it an odyssey because it traces a journey home to where it all began: a love of drawing and story-telling. It focuses on my progress as an author and how this has informed my development as an occupational therapist. It begins with my stalled attempt to find the true meaning of art and ends with a quest to find the true meaning of occupation. As an occupational therapist, I also envisage myself as a guide for others on a continuous quest for knowledge and I hope that this brief reflection inspires others to find meaning in their everyday practice and, perhaps, share it with others.
