Abstract

ABSTRACT Recent trends of splenic injury management in the 21st century emphasizes nonoperative treatment in children and adults. The clinician must base his treatment on clinical criteria on hemodynamic stability and associated injuries. The risk of overwhelming post-splenectomy sepsis is very low and should not influence the decision to operate, if the clinical condition demands it.
