Osteopetrosis: Oral and Maxillofacial Manifestations

Abstract

ABSTRACTOsteopetrosis is a rare hereditary bone disease characterized by osteoclasts malfunction and impaired bone resorption. Decreased vascularity of bone as well as compromised immune system may result in oral and maxillofacial complications. Osteomyelitis is life-threatening problem in these patients usually associated with dental caries or abscess.
