Abstract
As frequently happens the day after an issue of Pediatrics arrived we admitted a patient with a problem that had been presented in the journal. This 7-month-old infant had been referred to the department of radiology for a skull series because of a lump on the skull–an incidental finding was the presence of coins in the esophagus. He had no swallowing difficulty but did cough in the prone position. In view of Pediatrics, 50:475, we considered use of the method, but elected to do it under direct vision as we did not know the duration of the ingestion.
