Abstract
Seven of ten children with infantile spasms and retardation showed clinical and electroencephalographic improvement when treated with ACTH or cortisone. The number of children treated is small and the period of observation is still short, but the initial results are promising enough to justify a report in order to encourage other investigators to evaluate this treatment. The mechanism of this favorable response is not understood.
