Abstract

Physiologic studies, including cardiac catheterization, electrocardiography, and determination of heart volume have been performed on eight newborn infants with normal cardiovascular status, ranging in age from 7 hours to 14 days. The two most interesting results of these studies were the finding of right ventricular and pulmonary hypertension of moderate degree, and a significantly barge left to right shunt of blood through the ductus arteriosus after the third day of life.[See Table II in Source Pdf]
