Burn From Hairdryer: Accident or Abuse?

Abstract

We believe the following experience should be shared with your readers. A child was born to a 16-year-old primigravida. At the age of 2 years, she was brought to the emergency department by her grandmother for evaluation of a burn mark on the back. The grandmother had witnessed multiple episodes of abuse during the past 2 years, including seeing the child being beaten, stepped on, and locked in a bathroom, but had never reported any of these incidents.
