Abstract

The article deals with the issue of using media texts for didactic purposes in the training of language teachers. The relevance of the chosen topic is due to the mediatization of the communicative environment of education and the ambiguity of scientists’ approaches to the media text as an educational resource. The purpose of the article is to summarize the experience of introducing media texts in the training of undergraduate and graduate students of the Institute of Philology of Bunin Eletsk State University and to extend this experience among teachers of higher educational institutions. The article considers the role of media texts in improving the communicative and cultural competence of students studying such disciplines as “Modern Russian Language”, “Fundamentals of Intercultural Communication”, “Cognitive Linguistics (Theory and Practice)” and others. The author offers specific systems of exercises for each discipline, formulates the difficulties arising in the preparation for classes establishes ways to solve them. It is noted that the use of media texts as a teaching material helps to improve not only communicative and cultural competence of future language teachers, but also a number of professional competences related to text perception and decoding.
