The Case of Semantic Correlation between the Russian and English Concepts of “Auding”

Abstract

The article deals with the issue of correlation between the term “auding” and its Russian equivalent. Due to the uncovering of objectives be-hind the introduction of two terms in question, it was attempted to find the points of discrepancy between them. The author conducted the linguistic and conceptual analysis of the notions from the point of view of Russian and English term systems. The analysis revealed six approaches to determining the content of equivalent concepts, which, in turn, indicates a) the impossibility of interchanging the concepts we are interested in in the process of ex-changing scientific experience, and b) the appropriateness of revising the introduction of the term «auding» in the term system of domestic theory and methods of teaching foreign languages.
