Abstract

The article deals with the graphic means used in modern English-language literature to represent the visual consciousness of the author, as well as to reveal the characters’ images more effectively. The article analyses J.S. Foyer’s “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close”. The study highlights the various visual and graphic methods used to demonstrate visual consciousness in writing. It is found that to display visual consciousness in the text, the author uses figurative techniques of text arrangement, different fonts and their typefaces, as well as varying typographic properties of fonts and non-specific use of numbering. The article argues that visualization in text predisposes readers to a deeper and more emotional experience in the context of the narrative and helps the author to convey emotions in a more representative way
