Abstract
Background: Gentle birth is one way to prepare mothers to give birth naturally by utilizing all the natural elements (body, mind, and soul), which is expected to minimize both physical and psychological trauma and provide a positive experience from the labor process, a mother must have self-efficacy or belief in herself that the mother can do it. The purpose of this research is to analyze the factors that influence self-efficacy in readiness for Gentle birth.
Method: This research is an explanatory analytical study that analyzes the factors that affect the self-efficacy of Gentle Birth labor. The sample size is 64 pregnant women in the third trimester. Sampling using a simple random sampling technique. The dependent variable is the mother's self-efficacy, and the independent variables are physical condition, experience, social modeling, verbal persuasion, family support and health workers. The instrument used a questionnaire about self-efficacy factors and General Self Efficacy (GSE). Analysis with multivariate logistic regression test with a significance value <0.05.
Result: Based on the statistical test, the results obtained that verbal persuasion affects self-efficacy with p = 0.005, social modeling affects Self Efficacy with p = 0.012, experience affects self-efficacy with p = 0.02, and physical and emotional conditions affect Self Efficacy with p = 0.036 while the characteristics mother has an effect on self-efficacy with p = 0.042.
Conclusion: Verbal persuasion is the most influential role in the mother's self-efficacy in preparing for a gentle birth. Therefore it is important to give verbal persuasion, positive affirmations and suggestions to the mother to increase self-efficacy.
