Abstract
An individual's diabetic and pre-diabetic condition can be evaluated by measuring glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in the blood samples. This study aims to fabricate an electrochemical biosensor to identify HbA1c concentration in blood samples. The biosensor is developed based on molecularly imprinting technology and modified with iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe3O4). The nanoparticles enhanced the electrochemical activity on the electrode surface, while synthesized molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for HbA1c provided high specificity and selectivity on the fabricated interface. Each step was significantly characterized during the modification stages of the developed biosensor. As a result, the biosensor exhibits a wide detection range of 1 pM to 0.1 μM and a low detection limit of 1 pM. The fabricated biosensor requires very few drops of the blood sample and provides a fast response and long-term stability.
