Abstract
The primary concern of the system engineer is finding out how weather information affects the decisions made by users of this information and then determining how the required data can best be obtained and presented. In general, the measure of what is best has been the accuracy and adequacy of the information, together with its appropriateness as an input to the decision-making process and its effect on initial and continuing system costs. With this as a basis, several specific improvements in the areas of data acquisition, data processing, and data dissemination are discussed.
