Abstract
The solution of the problems associated with the assignment of engineering-design criteria requires the full cooperation of the engineer and the meteorologist. It is a problem necessitating an applied climatological study that is tailored to the specific requirements of the engineer. To properly perform this specialized service, the climatologist must be fully informed of the operational efficiencies with respect to the weather elements that are desired and also the exact circumstances under which the equipment will function. This article discusses the information required by the climatologists to prepare an adequate study and illustrates some of the effects of changing operational criteria.
