Active immunization against somatostatin increases milk yield in goats.

Abstract

Six Dutch white goats were immunized against a conjugate of somatostatin and human serum alpha -globulin during the 10th week of gestation and again 15 weeks later (in 4th wk of lactation). Six control goats were immunized against the globulin only. Milk yield over first 10 weeks of lactation for treated and control goats was 288.9+or-11.2 and 265.1+or-15.3 kg (mean+or-s.e.) resp.
