Abstract

Counselling and its application to individuals and specific groups has been enjoying a growth period for some years. The need to employ counsellors in a variety of settings, educational, health and, most recently, business, has been acknowledged (Allison et al., 1989). There are many definitions of counselling and counselling theories, just as there are many applications of theory to different areas of focus, e.g. family therapy, individuals and HIV (Donnelly 1981).
