Abstract
The proposed Diploma in Counselling Psychology is a significant advance in the development of training and accreditation pathways in counselling psychology. The Diploma, drawn up by a Working Party of the Membership and Qualifications Board of The British Psychological Society, implies a training which is underpinned by psychological principles and experience. It is an articulation of what we understand at this time, by counselling psychology. All this will differentiate counselling psychologists from other professionals and raise questions about how we relate to them and to their accrediting organizations.
