Abstract
This critical examination explores dramatherapy’s role in addressing complex trauma, employing techniques such as playspace, roleplay, and dramatic projection. The effectiveness of these methods is illustrated through the case study of Gladys, a 5-year-old with selective mutism. Her case provides significant empirical evidence for the use of dramatherapy in trauma treatment. By delving into Gladys’ therapeutic journey, this paper aims to underscore how dramatherapy techniques facilitate vocalisation and emotional expression, informing future practices and training in trauma-informed dramatherapy. Emphasising trauma-informed care and resiliencebuilding interventions, this reflective analysis offers practical guidance for therapists and contributes to the evolving discourse on integrating creative therapies into trauma care.
