Abstract
Eye tracking offers significant potential for applied practice and research across a broad range of domains, and specifically for sport and exercise psychology. New technology offers exciting opportunity to explore the vision and gaze behaviours of both elite and amateur athlete in situ. When researchers begin eye tracking, however, they encounter an array of daunting books, manuscripts and instruction manuals that comprise difficult terminology, complex statistical equations and confusing figures. In this article, we introduce you to eye tracking application within sport and exercise (aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students). We offer advice and solutions to some of the barriers that exist, and the basic knowledge needed so that you can confidently start the research process.
