Abstract
This article considers the nuances of arguments relating to different forms of therapist attire and its impact on the therapeutic relationship, taking into consideration client populations, religious perspectives and professional guidelines.‘Clothes can suggest, persuade, connote, insinuate, or indeed lie; applying subtle pressure while their wearer is speaking frankly and straightforwardly of other matters. ’ (Hollander, 1994, p.355)
