Providing help in a different way: The essential need for Trauma-Informed Care in Mental Health Services and steps to getting implementation underway

Abstract

Trauma influences experiences of relationships with health care services. Trauma-Informed care (TIC) is cited in policy as essential but is not universally implemented. This article adds to literature supporting TIC implementation in mental health services by highlighting eight over-arching principles.
