Abstract

Key issuesIt is beyond the scope of this article to cover all the complexities within deaf education in the detail they deserve and so I have outlined five aspects that I think it is useful to know about before working psychologically with a deaf child. For my paper I have chosen to use the term deaf which encompasses any level of hearing loss from profound to mild. I use the term child to encompass all children and young people aged between 0–25.
