Assessing the psychological needs of patients on a GP-managed, step up, step down ward in a community hospital

Abstract

Assessment established high levels of anxiety, depression, cognitive impairment and low confidence in activities of daily living (ADLs) in a service mainly utilised by older people. Staff identified the need for support in managing challenging behaviour and assessing decision making capacity.
