Abstract
This paper deals with the possible relationship between a native, negatively charged polyelectrolyte, chondroitin sulfate, and sodium metabolism. The physical chemical property of decreased activity of the cations Na, K and Ca in chondroitin sulfate is described. The data of experiments indicating an alteration in the mucoprotein metabolism of the cartilage of the rabbit's ear in response to the depletion of salt are presented.
