Clinical Evaluation of Dicumarinyl Derivatives with a Metabolic Study of the Radioactively Labeled Anticoagulants in Animals

Abstract

The common use of dicumarinyl derivatives for the treatment of thromboembolic diseases justifies further clinical evaluation of dicumarol and 4,4'-dihydroxydicumarinyl ethyl acetate [Pelentan, Tromexan, 3,3'-carboxymethylenebis (4-hydroxycoumarin) ethyl ester.] The need for a more thorough understanding of the pharmacodynamic action of dicumarinyl anticoagulants has prompted a study of their gross metabolism in animals, using C 14 -labeled materials.
