Abstract
The assessment procedure currently used for the accreditation of building acoustics laboratories is given in the standard ISO 140-2. It is based on the deviations between values obtained in the new laboratory and round robin results whereupon the number of third-octave values outside of the critical differences is simply counted. A new procedure is proposed which additionally accounts for the amount of deviation from the round robin mean value. Thus, it can be considered as a refined continuously scaled version of the current procedure. The new method has been checked by applying it to the data from a round robin survey of a heavy test wall. Besides the comparison between individual laboratory results and round robin mean results, an additional single measurement, carried out in each laboratory, is proposed to verify the results.
