Abstract

During the period of turbulence at the political level, special attention is paid to the economic component of regional cooperation between states. The economic cooperation of the EAEU member states, as well as their foreign trade relations over the past few years, has been influenced by sanctions pressure, through which there have been changes in the composition of the main external partners. The purpose of the article is to identify the tools that made it possible to level the sanctions pressure at the early stages, as well as to find solutions that will be relevant in the future for the entire region. The object of the research is the foreign economic indicators of the EAEU member countries, the subject of the research is the foreign economic relations between the main economic partners, both within the union and between the participating countries and third-party partners. For the EAEU member countries, such an external partner today is the People's Republic of China, which accounts for the bulk of import and export operations of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus. Applying a regional approach, as well as statistical data on import-export operations for the past period of 2021–2022, a decrease in the external economic indicators of individual EAEU member countries is revealed. To improve the economic performance of all members of the union, it is proposed to develop a common political and economic program, develop, and implement a regulatory framework in relation to relations with major external partners.
