Formation and Development of Comfortable Information Environment of Science at the University as a Goal of the University Library

Abstract

The definitions and notions of the “information environment”, “comfort of the information environment” and the interpretation of the “information environment of science” are considered, the characteristics of the comfortable information environment of science arepresented. In this connection, such concepts as “information resources” and “information infrastructure” are analyzed ex necessitate. A “pragmatic” understanding of the information environment is formulated in relation to library activity. The advantages of setting by a university library such a goal as forming the university information environment of science in comparison with the traditional task of providing information services to the users are substantiated.
