Abstract
The aim of the study was to identify various factors determining the probability of participation in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) at both the household and individual worker levels. The study was based on the primary data collected through a primary survey from the selected district of Haryana. The logistic regression model was applied to analyse the data. The results revealed that there was a significant and negative effect of land ownership and the age of the head of the family on the likelihood of participation in the MGNREG scheme at the household level. In the case of individual worker level analysis, it was found that the probability of participation in the scheme significantly declined with the increasing education level of the individual worker. Further, it was also evident from the analysis that the MGNREG scheme favoured female participants as they had a higher probability of participation in the scheme than males.
