Abstract
Vulvodynia is a chronic gynecological disease with no clear cause, lasting at least three months, presenting a history of intense pain with a neuropathic component, starting before diagnosis, refractory treatment with steroids, hormonal therapy, anticonvulsants, antidepressants, psychotherapy, physiotherapy , acupuncture and even vulvectomy. The odd ganglion is the most caudal of the sympathetic ganglion chain. Visceral afferent fibers originating from the perineum, distal rectum, anus, distal section of the urethra, vulva, and vagina are found in the distal third of this ganglion. Its blockade has been effectively used to control pain in patients with vulvodynia. Women with chronic gynecological diseases who received multimodal pain therapy and underwent infiltration with local anesthetics in the impar ganglion demonstrated successful therapy in the majority of them. Blockade is a good treatment option for patients suffering from chronic pain and discomfort caused by vulvodynia.
