Abstract

The receptor Tom20 of the mitochondrial TOM complex is dynamically associated with the general import pore GIP. Single molecule tracking analysis identifies at least two subpopulations of Tom20. One Tom20 fraction is part of the trimeric TOM complex; the other is a freely diffusive Tom20 subpopulation, likely associated with VDAC.
