Abstract

The channel-forming protein pannexin 2 is transcriptionally regulated in the skin and promotes programmed cell death of keratinocytes after UV radiation. PANX2 is present at all ages in the mouse skin and promotes apoptosis of UV-irradiated keratinocytes regardless of its cleavage by executioner caspases.
