Abstract
We demonstrate that the phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) synthase Psd1, a primarily mitochondrial enzyme, moonlights at the ER, where it localizes to sites of lipid droplet (LD) biogenesis and promotes their normal formation in budding yeast. We also show that the role of PE synthase enzymes at LDs is conserved in fission yeast though occurs in a mechanistically distinct manner.
