Abstract

Budding yeast is used to address the toxicity mechanism of α-synuclein, a protein involved in neurodegenerative diseases. The loss of several different proteins that tether organelles makes cells resistant to α-synuclein, revealing that organelle communication via contact sites plays a key role in its toxicity.
